Cropworks starts with a red barn, a letter from the village and a few simple tools. Till the soil, sow, water and bring in the harvest by hand, then sell it to the travelling merchant or take it to the workbench to make flour, tomato paste and carrot cake, packed into boxes for the villagers' orders. Nine crops grow on the farm, and sun, rain, thunderstorms and droughts make every day a little different.

As the farm grows, it learns to work on its own. Fit a plot with a frame and a gantry and it tills, plants, waters and harvests by itself, while packers and crafters turn the harvest into goods for the orders. Spend what you earn on the life around it: keep hens, pigs, cows and bees, fish at the pond, make a home in the barn, and buy the land beyond the fence to lay out new fields, paths and gardens.
